DJ COURSE — WHAT YOU’LL LEARN COMPLETE DJ PERFORMANCE FOUNDATIONS Build the core skills needed to confidently prepare, perform, and deliver professional DJ sets in real club and event environments. DJ EQUIPMENT MASTERY & BOOTH SETUP Gain hands-on experience with industry-standard equipment including CDJs, mixers, controllers, and DJ software. Learn correct booth setup, signal flow, and professional DJ etiquette. MUSIC PREPARATION & LIBRARY ORGANISATION Learn how to source, organise, and prepare music using Rekordbox, including playlist building, USB preparation, cue points, loops, hot cues, and beatgrids. BEATMATCHING, TIMING & TRANSITIONS Develop strong manual and assisted beatmatching skills, understand phrasing and track structure, and transition cleanly between tracks, styles, and energy levels. CREATIVE MIXING & PERFORMANCE TECHNIQUES Use EQ, filters, FX, looping, and cue-based techniques tastefully to enhance your mixes and maximise dancefloor impact. SET BUILDING, LIVE PERFORMANCE & INDUSTRY INSIGHT Learn how to structure DJ sets, read a crowd, perform with confidence, and understand how gigs, promoters, and bookings work in the real world. DJ COURSE — 4 WEEK OUTLINE WEEK 1 — INTRODUCTION, EQUIPMENT & USB PREP Purpose of DJing and how DJs work in clubs Overview of DJ setups: CDJs, mixers, controllers, vinyl, software Booth setup, cables, signal flow, and troubleshooting USB formatting and preparation Rekordbox overview: playlists, hot cues, beatgrids Cueing tracks and basic EQ control First simple transitions WEEK 2 — BEATMATCHING, PHRASING & CORE MIXING Manual beatmatching using pitch fader and jog wheel Understanding BPM, tempo, and timing 16-bar and 32-bar phrasing and track structure Identifying mix-in and mix-out points Choosing the right moment to mix Controlling energy between tracks WEEK 3 — CREATIVE TOOLS: EQ, FX, LOOPS & CUES EQ technique: lows, mids, and highs Filters, delay, reverb, and FX control Looping to extend or shorten tracks Slip mode and beat jump Mixing tracks with vocals Recording a 10–15 minute mini-mix WEEK 4 — LIVE PERFORMANCE & INDUSTRY SKILLS Building a DJ set: warm-up vs peak-time Reading the crowd DJ etiquette and booth behaviour Understanding promoters and how bookings work Networking and promotion basics Final 15–20 minute assessed DJ set BRING ON THE DAY • Headphones • USB • Notepad & Pen
